ETHICS IN AVIATION
I think ethics is a huge deal, and plays a massive role in the aviation. Ethics is doing the right thing when no one is looking. Ethical standards are performing the maintenance, or flying an aircraft by the book all the time to reduce mishaps since shortcuts were not taken. Being that I currently work in aviation maintenance in the Navy, you always hear " perform the maintenance by the book" where you have a moral obligation to perform your duties to the best of your ability as the instruction displays to prevent people from getting hurt or possibly dying. I believe ethics go hand in hand with morals as your morals should drive you to do what is right at all times. Aviation is inherently dangerous and maintenance division of personnel with high ethical standards can provide way for safe flights and other operations. For example, "Professionalism and safety go hand in hand, so both need to be part of the culture and mindset of an organization"(Ferriss, n.d).
