 Environmental Effects on Airplanes

An environmental effect that may affect aircraft performance while flying can certainly be high gust of wind. The different types of wind that can affect the aircraft's mobility and stability can be headwind, tailwind, and crosswinds (Southern Wings, 2015). For example, a headwind will be good for an aircraft during takeoff as it will allow the aircraft to have an increase of lift meaning the aircraft will need less time to get into the air (Southern Wings, 2015).

On the other hand when an aircraft is flying and getting ready to land, crosswinds and tailwinds can make landing quite challenging where landing may not be granted if over such limits (Southern Wings, 2015). Gusts of wind that change abruptly and quickly are very dangerous as it can rapidly change an aircraft's lift (Southern Wings, 2015). Altimeters, airspeed indicator, and vertical speed indicator are all tools pilots use to deal with heavy winds in these certain conditions (Southern Wings, 2015).
