 Terrorism in the Aviation Industry


        Terrorism in the aviation industry is an ongoing problem which doesnt always occur in an airplane high jacking like September 11, 2001. Cyber security threats are a huge threat nowadays and can result in loss of life, loss of an aircraft, and loss of trust in cyber security teams working to prevent it. For example, "This incident is probably the most serious data breach in airline history to date. The attack affected 9.4 million Cathay Pacific passengers" (cnsight, 2021).  This incident exposed people's credit card information, birth certificates, and a lot of personal information that can put people in jeopardy (cnsight, 2021).

         Cyber security organizations such as the National Business Aviation Association  have been created to reduce and stop cyber attacks (NBAA, 2016). The NBAA has incorporated a policy to mitigate attacks regarding cyber security and other potential flaws in the aviation systems  (NBAA, 2016). on correct internal auditing procedures as well as The NBAA has also set out to educate company personnel and conduct audits to prevent having cyber liabilities (NBAA, 2016).

 Weather Conditions           The greatest weather condition to me in aviation is snow that can cause the most severe weather conditions. Snow can prevent pilots from seeing visually, causing components on the aircraft to not wirk and also prevent aircraft from even taking off and  (Arbogast, 2015).  example, " Snow and blowing snow can greatly affect aircraft on the ground, as well as during ascent and descent. When visibility is significantly reduced, as a result of snow activity, aircraft acceptance rates are often reduced. This causes operational delays, and at times aircraft may need to divert to alternate airfields. Significant snow accumulation can impact airport operations, and runways may close for plowing.  Human Factors in Aviation Human factors are those that occur with humans that happen in everyone's daily lives not necessarily concerning aviation at all. For example, distractions, fatigue, stress, etc (Shorrock,2017).      During Aircraft servicing on an EA-18G aircraft, part of servicing the aircraft is to refuel it. During this evolution of refueling this aircraft, miscommunication can play a huge role in this aircraft not being able to perform its mission, and also the strong possibility of defueling causing rework (FAA,2016). The communication part of human factors is huge as maintenance control is communicating with the ground crew on how much fuel needs to be given to the aircraft, and if it should be fueled internally or externally (FAA,2016).
